The opening process begins 45 minutes to 1 hour before opening.
- Log your arrival time
- Muck pasture area.
- Clean display pens if necessary, due to rain or unsatisfactory conditions.
- Add fresh bedding to display pens where needed.
- Clean all water buckets and bowls before filling them.
- All water buckets and bowls need to be filled, placed in each outside stall, pen, and in the play yard.
- Put 1-2 flakes of hay in each stall and play yard before bringing the animals out for the day.
- Place food for ducks, turkeys, chickens and rabbits in their outside pens.
- Let the pond animals out of their cages.
- Bring pigs to play yard and feed them before opening.
- Check to make sure all animals look healthy and clean, making sure to groom any animals who need it prior to opening.
- Move the animals to their assigned display pens for the day.
- Let the chickens out.
- Fill several feed cups (at least 20) and make sure they are visible to guests.
- If there are animals that need a bottle, give it to them before moving them to display area.
- If any animal has special feeding instructions or medication, tend to them before opening.
- Do a final sweep and tidy before opening to guests.
- Open at least 5 minutes prior to our contracted time. NEVER OPEN LATE!!!
